We understand that going to a pediatric dentist can be an intimidating experience for both children and their parents alike, which is why we strive to make every new patient experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible.

When Should My Child See a Dentist?

Medical and dental experts agree children should see a pediatric dentist by their first birthday and every six months to keep their smile healthy. Our Edmond pediatric dentists can see babies as young as a couple of days old for concerns such as lip ties. But even if your child is headed off to school and hasn’t had a dental checkup yet, we can help. 

What to Expect

When you arrive at our office, you and your child will be greeted by our friendly front desk staff, who will help you complete any necessary paperwork required for treatment. Once all the necessary forms are completed, our registered dental assistant (RDA) will call your child back to the clinical area for us to begin their dental exam.


During the exam, we will review your child’s medical and dental history to ensure we have a comprehensive understanding of their current oral health status. We will also take digital X-rays to diagnose any underlying issues that may not be visible to the naked eye.


After the diagnostic process is completed, our team will perform a cleaning to remove any plaque or tartar buildup on your child’s teeth. This is an essential part of any dental exam, as it helps to prevent the development of cavities and other dental issues. Dental sealants and fluoride can also be applied as needed. 


Most children’s dental checkups take about 30-45 minutes to complete.

What if My Child Needs Treatment?

If we identify any treatment needs, our pediatric dentist will discuss individualized treatment options with you in detail and provide you with a comprehensive treatment plan, including other options if applicable. We understand the importance of open communication, and we want you to feel comfortable asking any questions or expressing any concerns you may have about your child’s dental needs.


Before you leave, we'll schedule your child's next cleaning appointment as well as any future treatment appointments needed.
